RACKING INSPECTION TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM
GREEN
RISK
Any observed damage falls within acceptable limits set by SEMA guidelines. While it is not immediately dangerous, it is recorded for further consideration during the next inspection. Green Risks should not be ignored, as they can worsen over time and escalate to higher risk levels if not monitored and managed properly.
AMBER
RISK
Damage is significant but not immediately dangerous. Remedial work is required to fix the damage. It is crucial to offload the affected areas and not use them until repairs are completed. If the repairs are not carried out within four weeks, the Amber Risk automatically escalates to a Red Risk. Timely addressing Amber Risks helps prevent further deterioration and potential hazards.
RED
RISK
High level of damage to your racking system. The damage is severe enough to pose an immediate risk to safety. As a result, the affected racking must be offloaded immediately and taken out of use until proper repairs are made. Ignoring Red Risks can lead to serious accidents and potential legal consequences.
Frequently Asked Questions
Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or need further assistance. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities.
Why are regular racking inspections necessary?
Regular racking inspections are crucial for ensuring the safety and structural integrity of your warehouse storage systems. Faulty or damaged racking can lead to accidents, damage to goods, and potential injury to staff. Regular inspections help identify issues early and prevent costly disruptions and safety hazards.
How often should racking inspections be conducted?
According to HSE guidelines, visual inspections should be conducted monthly by an in-house staff member, and a comprehensive inspection should be carried out annually by a qualified SARI inspector. The frequency may increase depending on the condition and usage of your racking system.
What is included in a racking inspection?
Our racking inspections cover a comprehensive assessment of all racking components, including uprights, beams, bracing, bolts, footplates, and safety equipment. We also provide a detailed report with priority-rated actions (Red, Amber, Green) to address any identified issues.
What if defects or damages are found during the inspection?
We provide detailed recommendations for corrective actions, and our team can assist in planning and implementing necessary repairs or replacements.
Can inspections be scheduled outside of regular business hours?
Yes, we can offer flexible scheduling options, outside of regular business hours, to minimise disruption to your operations.
How long does a typical racking inspection take?
The duration of an inspection depends on the size and complexity of your racking system. However, most inspections are completed within a 1 day.
Do you offer any follow-up services?
We also provide ongoing support and advice to maintain the safety and efficiency of your racking systems. See our services page to find out more.
