OUR FULL SERVICE SOLUTION

The Alphastor end to end service is geared towards giving you the very best customer experience no matter what part of our service you interface with first.

01 - NEW STORAGE SYSTEM

As an independent Distributor of storage systems, we can offer all commonly used storage systems by all major manufacturers.  This could be standard APR (Adjustable Pallet Racking) Double deep racking, Drive-In racking, mobile racking, push back racking, pallet live racking or shuttle racking.  We can help you to decided which will be the best system for you but balancing space efficiency with price.  Rest assured; the more space efficient a system is, the more expensive it will be.  However, It won’t necessarily give you the most time efficient, or practical solution.

Whilst we have relationships with most of the main manufacturers, we will present you with the information you need to be able to make an informed decision about the options available to you.

If you would like more information from us about getting the best value system in to your next warehouse, please call 01244 506568 and we will be delighted to help.

02- ONGOING SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

When making the initial capital purchase for new storage systems, so much emphasis is placed on the price of the initial installation. Many racking companies win their business on the basis of making bigger profits on aftersales than the initial installation.

In many cases Managers, Consultants and Procurement professionals are incentivised on getting the initial purchase price to the lowest possible. Very little is any thought is given to how well or poorly the systems stands up to wear and tear or to the price to be paid afterwards for replacement components. This is because they are not penalised for the ongoing costs after the initial purchase.  Not to mention the downtime in a warehouse when storage locations are taken out of use due to damage, and having to wait up to 10 weeks for delivery.

Put simply, what is your Cost of Purchase v’s’ Cost of Ownership?

At AlphaStor, we like to work with our clients on a long-term basis to ensure that costs of repairs and timescales to repair are kept to a minimum.  Some of things we can offer are:-

  1. Ongoing racking inspections
  2. Installation of Racking Protection
  3. Ordering your stock of common components, for when damages arise
  4. Being on call for repairs in guaranteed turnaround times
  5. Advising on adequate signage and barriers

Please contact us to talk about what options are available to do this.

03 - SARI RACKING INSPECTIONS

The Health and Safety of personnel in any business is absolutely paramount, and I hope that every company in the UK view Health and Safety as None Negotiable.

It is your companies responsibility to ensure that your storage system is adequately inspected at least once in every 12 month period.

At AlphaStor, we carry all of our Racking Inspections out with a SARI (SEMA APPROVED RACKING INSPECTOR), and all inspections are carried out to SEMA standards.

We also take great pride in ensuring that our Inspectors also provide a full and detailed inventory and specification of every component which needs to be replaced.  After all, what would be the point of getting a racking inspection done, where you know where the damage is, but you don’t know what components you need to order to repair the damage?  You may be surprised to know that the largest Racking Inspection company in the UK does NOT.

With every racking inspection by AlphaStor, you get the following:-

  1. SARI Registered Inspection
  2. Full detailed inspection using the traffic light system
  3. Red risks will be communicated to the client by the end of the next business day
  4. A full report will be provided within 1 working week
  5. The report will include a full inventory and specification, and you are welcome to use this to ask other providers to quote for the repair work if you wish.
  6. A competitive quotation for all repairs will be provided within 5-10 business days (depending on the speed of the manufacturers)

Please call us on 01244 506568 to get more information about our racking inspections.

Fire Risk Assessments

Although not directly connected with Racking inspections, we have been asked a number of times if we can recommend a company for Fire Risk Assessments.  This is also a legal requirement for your company, and we can provide you with a Fire Risk Assessment by a IFSM (institute of Fire Safety Management) registered inspector, which will also provide you with a full report of actions required to become compliant.  This covers not only your warehouse, but the rest of your building as well.

Please call us on 01244 506568 to get more information about our Fire Risk Assessments.

04 - RACKING PROTECTION & BARRIERS

So, once you have chosen your new storage system, and when you have had your annual racking inspection completed and repaired, how do you limit, or irradiate any further damages?

This can be done in several ways, at varying costs, and with varying degrees of effectiveness.

AlphaStor are Authorised Re-sellers of the A-Safe range with preferential rates that we can pass on to you.  All A-Safe products are fully tested and certified and therefore the best rack protection product in the UK market.

Here are some of the variations that you may see.

Further tips on protecting your Racking:-

  1. Regular training and assessments for fork truck drivers
  2. Ensure that all of your racking aisles are exactly the same width.  A variation in aisle with can easily confuse a fork truck driver in to hitting the racking
  3. Look at your racking constantly, is your racking damaged?  If so, seek advice on getting adequate protection, and maybe even upgrading your protection
  4. Even if your racking is in great condition and sustains very little damage, having good racking protection is always going to be better than not having any.

Please call us on 01244 506568 to get more information about our Barrier systems.

05 - ONGOING DESIGN & CONSULTATION

After many years of working with the largest Blue Chip companies in the UK, we have gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the design of Industrial Storage Systems, and we will be happy to work with you on your next project.  With our existing clients, we make ourselves readily available to help them with this, and pass on our knowledge on a ongoing basis.

This may start with a small installation, but whilst on site even with existing racking systems, we can help to identify opportunities to develop further space or efficiencies for that client.

This could be:-

For a new warehouse that you are considering
For a potential reconfiguration in your existing warehouse
Consolidation of several warehouses

We also have great relationships with other associated trades and can assist with the following:-

Racking Labels & Signage
Sprinkler Systems
Fork Truck providers
Lighting, Electrical & HVAC
Main Contractors

If you haven’t worked with AlphaStor before, we are keen to build relationships with our clients, so we ask you to consider this:-

In the warehouse storage industry, it is very common that a Storage System provider such as AlphaStor will work with a client from the conception of a project for no cost to the client, but merely for the opportunity to quote.  It is also very common that the client will use the free consultancy provided to get quotations from other competitors who have not contributed anything to the design.  The client will then give the business to whichever company is the lowest price.

In these unprecedented and busy times in the warehousing sector any Storage System Provider will really struggle to give their clients the time required to do this at no cost.  Therefore, at AlphaStor, where early stage Design and Consultation is required, we may ask you for a small contribution for this work, based on a written agreement that we will credit any consultation fee against an order placed for the project and that we will price match any other like for like quotation that you get from our competitors.  In this way you get our full attention, in the knowledge that you will also get the best deal available.

Please call us on 01244 506568 to get more information about our Design and Consultation service.

06 - RACK EXTENSIONS, SPARES & REPAIRS

Over the years as our clients grow and as each installation that they have may be done by a different company, they often end up with 3, 4 or even more manufacturers equipment on site.

Over the years, a large number of manufacturers has dissolved, and their brands and machinery are often bought by other manufacturers with a view of capitalizing on the requirements for replacement parts for those brands.  In many cases being up to 5 times the price of an equivalent ‘current’ brand.  When you want to extend your racking system you will find that it will be more economical to begging a program of replacing the ‘old’ racking with a current brand.

Some examples of these brands are Hi-Lo (pre 2003), Redirak, PSS P85.  We also believe that Apex system will be made obsolete in the short to medium term.

We can help you to plan this program of consolidation, and once you have chosen your preferred type, we can buy the racking that you no longer want and remove it, and eventually have one type of equipment throughout.

As or when you need any additional components on a supply only basis, or installed, we have access to all manufacturers components, even some which are no longer mass produced so we can continue to service any of your requirements.

Please call us on 01244 506568 to get more information about sourcing your Spares and repairs for rack extensions.

Safe and professional warehouse installation and project delivery.

A new standard of warehouse racking for a new breed of buildings.

Racking types

For many years, companies have been storing pallets and boxes in the warehouses, and as technology in fork lift trucks has advanced, pallet racking has been able to reach higher.

Couple this with new construction methods and changes in the way consumers shop and it is no surprise warehouses have gotten bigger and bigger. Warehouse racking and the way we specify it needed to keep pace and we have. Find out more today.

The right system for the right
warehouse environment.

Keeping pace with technology and client needs is paramount

Go back 30 years, and Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR) was a standard system, storing pallets 1200mm wide x 1000mm deep. Fork trucks would usually need around 3 to 3.6m aisles, and could perhaps reach around 8m in height.

Because of this, warehouses would have more empty space in the aisles, than storage space in the racks, and due to relatively low height, compared to today. Warehouses took up large footprints, but in reality, were not making good use of the space.

At that time, systems such as Drive in Racking became more popular because the density of the storage was far better, and far fewer aisles were needed.

The issue with this was that it was in every drive in lane, which could be 6 pallets deep and 6 pallets high, every pallet would need to be the same, otherwise, the fork truck driver may need to move 35 pallets out of the way (and find somewhere to keep them) to get to the pallet they needed.

Warehouse racking innovations.

Other innovations came along such a Pallet Live – gravity fed roller, where you put pallets in at one side, and take them out at the other. These are more effective, although considerably more expensive – approximately 7x the price of standard APR. So again, it is suitable for very specific applications, but not really for general use.

Other semi automated variations were born – Mobile Pallet Racking (a bit like the shelving in libraries which moves to open the aisle for you), and more recently Shuttle Racking, have all been developed, and all at significantly higher prices than APR.

The reality is, now that aisles can be reduces to around 2m for VNA, articulated trucks and Aisle Masters, some with a lift on the truck up to 18m, and the increase in building height, and the considerably lower cost to install, the old faithful APR has made a huge resurgence, back to to basics, as they say.

In fact the largest online retailer in the World (you know who they are) are back to basics. Standard APR for their pallet racking, standard shelving (on multi-tiered), with human beings wheeling trollies around picking their items from the shelves.

AlphaStor can offer any of the systems referred to above – and more.
