Damaged Racking
At AlphaStor, we are keen to work with you to reduce, or even eradicate, damage to your pallet racking. Our ideal scenario is that our inspector completes his inspection with there being no damage to report.
Preventing Damage
How do I stop my pallet racking from getting damaged?
This is easier than you might think:
- Continued training for your forklift truck drivers. Most racking damage is due to forklift truck drivers making mistakes.
- Protect your racking. There is an extensive range of racking protection products available. AlphaStor can talk you through the various options.
- Conduct regular in-house inspections. This not only identifies any new issues. But it also demonstrates to your warehouse staff that you care about your racking, and hopefully, they will too.
- Encourage your drivers to report issues to you immediately. Make reporting their mistakes/damage a positive, rather than a negative. This way you will know about any damages early on.
Repairs
How long does it take to repair damaged racking?
This all depends on the brand of pallet racking that you use, the specification, and how old it is. If you have a pallet from a well-known UK brand, such as Link 51 or Dexion which is a ‘common’ specification, we could get the replacement components to you within a week or two.
If you using a pallet from a lesser-known or even an obsolete brand. There is a chance that it is manufactured red in another country. Or it may be an unusual specification, these components will then need to be ordered and manufactured. This can range anywhere from 4 weeks to 16 weeks.
In the current climate, racking installers are in high demand. The timing of actual repairs will all depend on the availability of the installation team. However, AlphaStor has a dedicated team of installers who specialise in racking repairs. Which can often be mobilised in just a couple of weeks.
How can I speed up the repairs?
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to speed up your first repair. However, we can work with you to organise a small ‘stock’ of replacement components to be kept at your premises. Allowing repairs to be done much more quickly. Once those components are used, you should order your next ‘stock’.
